What is Open Performance?
A program of non-curated shared showings of experimentation and work-in-progress, for artists at all stages of their development. The events are centered around an audience discussion moderated by a Movement Research Artist-in-Residence or an occasional guest, where we will experiment with different feedback methods to support and inform the artists' process. Now expanded to 3 times a month, Open Performance will take place at the DTW Studio, 3rd floor, October 2008-February 2009, starting Wednesday, October 1st at 8pm.
How to participate:
Sign up is strictly on a First Come, First Serve basis. There is no application process, as this is a non-curated program, and we strive to accommodate as many artists as possible.
For the Fall/Winter 08 season, we begin accepting date requests at 10am on Monday, June 2, 2008. Please do not email before this date.
To request dates, simply email the Open Performance coordinator at openperform@movementresearch.org with your name, company name (where applicable), and preferred dates from the list below. Please give us as much availability information as possible. Also, please keep in mind that this is a studio venue, and is therefore low-tech.
Once the season has been programmed, you will be informed by email of the date you are scheduled to show work, or if you have been added to the alternates list in the case of a cancellation. Once you receive an email, you MUST REPLY, either to confirm or withdraw from the program or the alternates list.
In the event of a cancellation after the season has been programmed, you must give 2 weeks notice or risk being unable to apply the following season. Also, those who have been programmed in a given season are asked to wait a season before applying again in order to give others a chance to be programmed (for example, if you show work in Fall 2008, we ask that you wait to apply again until Fall 2009.
Our goal is to accommodate as many artists as possible.
