Jimena Paz was born in Buenos Aires, and has lived and worked in Argentina, United States, Europe and Scandinavia. Throughout her work she continues to explore experiences and questions of foreignness, otherness, interculturalism, inter-being, migration, the fictional and the sensorial aspects of the multiple relationships that exist between body-soul-land-environment-cultures. Most recently she collaborated with the artist, Ralph Lemon, for the work, In Proximity (2022) at Palazzo Grassi -COSMO, Venice, Italy. Her solo iridescent (2021) was presented at “Movement without Borders” https://www.movementwithoutborders.com and selected as NYTimes Best of Dance 2021. Other works include Yellow, a co-creation with American artists choreographers, Vicky Shick and Ralph Lemon, presented at the Chocolate Factory in 2017. She is currently studying cultural biology, the work of Humberto Maturana and Ximena Dávila-Yañez, a study, reflection and conversation about Culture/s with people from different regions in the Southern Hemisphere of Latin America. A Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, Jimena is on faculty at The University of The Arts and Movement Research. She has had the pleasure to work with Lance Gries, Vicky Shick, Susan Rethorst, the Stephen Petronio Company (‘99–‘06), Juliette Mapp, Constanza Macras (Germany), Iris Scaccheri (Argentina), Martha Clake, Liz Gerring, Antonio Ramos, Todd Williams, Burt Barr, Sabrina Farji (Spain-Argentina), Virginie Yassef (France). She was an artist in residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (2018) Robert Rauschenberg (2016), and New York Live Arts Studio Series (2013/14), The Yard (2012) and Movement Research (2007/09). Jimena Paz nació y creció en Buenos Aires y ha trabajado en Argentina, Estados Unidos, Europa y Escandinavia. A lo largo de su obra continúa explorando experiencias de alteridad, interculturalidad, migración, la condición de ser un otro y lo ficcional y lo sensorial de las múltiples relaciones que existen entre cuerpo-alma-tierra-nicho-culturas. Recientemente colaboró con el artista Ralph Lemon para la obra In Proximity (2022) en el Palazzo Grassi – COSMO, Venecia, Italia. Su solo, iridiscente (2021), fue presentado en “Movement Without Borders” y seleccionado como NYTimes Best of Dance 2021.
